Great lightweight EDC multitool
I have a Leatherman wave that i love. However i thought it was a bit to heavy for everyday carry. The size of the juice is excellent and so are the selection of the tools provided with the tool. I wish the tools locked into place like the wave does. I also wish they had more choices for cases. Overall, i recommend you buy this multitool preferably from AMAZON, they had the best price. A multi tool is very handy thing to carry.
Solid, Useful, dependable
I've seen some other reviews on this product griping about not being able to open the packaging or not being able to get one of the screw drivers out....All I can say is I've had this leatherman for at least/all most 7 years (X-mas 04 range) and it has been stalwart. Nuff said. As for not being able to get the flat head drivers out...they were a little stiff when new but not too stiff to retrieve and they are fine now and have been for years. A year or so after I bought mine I got them for my Dad and two brothers as well. Indispensable.
Leatherman Juice S2
I had a Squirt I used for years, but wanted to upgrade. I was looking for a tool with pliers but still had a good pair of scissors. It also had a flathead screwdriver and a Phillips. Very handy! The Juice S2 fit my needs perfectly and Amazon offered it at a decent price.
This tool brings out the tinker in you
I purchased this from Amazon about two weeks ago and have been constantly keeping it on my person most of the time. This tool is very handy. I never had to dig up any phillips or flathead screwdrivers ever whenever something needed tightening. I constantly flop around the house looking for projects to tinker. I know that if I didnt purchase this I wouldnt actually be looking around to tinker! Who knew!
The three flathead drivers they include are very nice and multifunctional. I found that they are all very sturdy for light prying and especially true for the largest flathead. The smallest flathead driver was actually able to unscrew the minuscule screws inside of a wristwatch (my curiosity led me to dismantle my entire watch)! I also purchased the additional bit driver set what added on top of the phillips driver for additional bits. It was especially useful when I had some hex-bit screws to tighten on my bicycle when I tuned it up. The knife is very sharp but I can notice it can quickly dull but with the type of steel it is made with sharpening should be fairly simple. The shears are large. The cutting does feel a little grainy sometimes (probably because mine are still new), it could be caused by very sharp blades.
The downsides of this multitool comes scarce. Somethings I didn't like too much was when I first used it, everything was very tight; all the joints would be kind of hard to turn and the drivers would sometimes retreat very quickly from the open position that sometimes whipped my finger and cause some bleeding. After about a week of constant use the joints are becoming more fluid and solid feeling. Another con, in conjunction with the optional bit driver, the adapter bit only 'sits' on the phillips driver, there are no nudges or crevices to properly be latched on. this caused the bit driver to sometimes fall off of the phillips driver (during use) and on to the floor (or grate in my case) and could cause to be a little inconvenient if you plan to use the bit driver a lot. I did notice that you can turn the multitool fairly hard (using the drivers) before you feel some flex on the joints. I have tried tightening a hex screw fairly hard and I let the tool flex quite a bit but I did not notice any damage or bending of the steel on the joints of the tool. The flex alone can be intimidating but the tool should be able to handle it.
I gave 4 starts instead of 5 because of the minor, but annoying issue with the bit driver compatibility
In conclusion, I would recommend this multitool to the everyday tinkerer. I really see this tool's use as mainly a do-it-all phillips and flathead screw driver with handy pliers and shears/knife as a secondary function. I recommend the additional bit driver if you work with hex screws (bicycles) and torx screws.
Orange Juice Rocks
I purchased a Juice S2 as an alternative to my Wave when I'm not hiking, camping, or doing anything too heavy. Let me start off by saying that this little gadget is amazing. Perfect size, perfect weight, and exteremely useful. Big multi tools such as the Wave are super handy but I don't always need a saw, file, etc. So let's get down to business. Out of the box, you can tell it's a Leatherman, sturdy and solid. The knife is extremely sharp and has a cool leaf design. I can't imagine needing anything more than this. On the other side, the bottle opener is pretty standard and works well (trust me). The scissors were the biggest suprise as they are bigger than the scissors on most multi tools...even the Wave! Upon opening, the pliers snap into place with authority and ready to go. They have a strong grip and feel comfortable in hand. While they aren't as big as the pliers on the Wave, these should handle most tasks just fine. Inside the handles are the screwdrivers, 3 flat heads and one phillips. With this comes my only complaint and that is that I think they could substitute one of the flat heads with another phillips to even things out. Let's face it, today we see many more phillips heads than flat. Aside from that little complaint, I am completely happy with this product. I have read a few other reviews here that complain that some of the tools implements are difficult to open. True at first, but with a few shots of WD40 and a little spare time, this problem is solved quickly. Just spray a little bit on the hinges and keep opening and closing the tools over and over and after awhile it will open with ease. I have owned several Leathermans and each one of them required a little "breaking in" period.
