A tool for daily use.
An old boss gave me my Leatherman Micra sometime around 2000 - it's still got a lot of "patent pending" language around the tools.
That said, it's indispensable. When my keychain became a bit of an albatross, I tried eliminating the Leatherman, only to find myself missing it - needing it. My quality of life suddenly diminished for want of this tool. My fingernails were suddenly, incurably too long. I couldn't get a bit of grit out from inder my fingernails, or extract a splinter. I couldn't tighten a screw on the fly.
I truly felt incomplete when I gave up my Micra. It had been there at the ready, as accessible as my keys without much more burden of pocket weight. It was always at hand, always just the tool I needed for every mundane task. Needless to say, I re-attached it to my keychain, and haven't renounced it since.
