From the Editors
Another Kershaw hottie is the sleek Skyline. It's a super slim Flipper knife that's ideal for pocket carrying. It features a blade of 14C28N stainless steel chosen for its hardness, excellent corrosion resistance, and its ability to be sharpened to that perfect Kershaw "shaving sharp" edge. For good looks, the blade has an attractive "stonewashed" finish. Textured G-10 handles in basic black provide a secure grip and a sturdy locking liner keeps the blade safely in place until you release it. The Skyline comes with a removable pocket clip that can be reversed for tip-up or tip-down carry.

Awesome Knife
This is a cool knife. The best part of it, the quality of the product and the value for the money. This knife is made in America and is extremely sharp. I've cut box after box and broke pieces of dry ice and this knife is just as sharp as day one. I highly recommend this product.
Awesome EDC/Defender
I've owned this knife for 2 yrs. now, carry it everyday.(sometimes sleep with it clipped onto the boxers)I have read all the reviews and pretty much agree with most of them. There is no such thing as "THE" perfect knife,if there was everyone would own it.As far as EDC it's about as perfect as your gonna find.As far as in an emergency self defense tool,I can say from personal experience,it works. No it's not the ultimate fighting folder, but in the situation I was in,it worked and left the other guy with a memory he will never forget. That being said, you can trust this knife to do your daily chores, and in a pinch depend on it when the cards aren't in your favor.
SUPER!
If you love knives, you got to have this one.. Or, if you can't decide on a daily carrier - check this one out.
This is my first Kershaw and I must say that for a $35 knife, I'm pleasantly surprised.
I own Spyderco, Boker, Gerber, etc. This is one of the sharpest out of box knives I own. The packages says "hair popping sharp", and they aren't lying.. It shaves hair right out of box, and the hairs pop up off your arm too.. Crazy good sharp!! This makes me wonder the factory bevels whereby this blade is honed. My guess is 15 degrees max per side, maybe even 12.5 per side. However, I'm not sure. If I'm correct; for every day use, such low bevel angles will be fine for most food slicing and letter opening tasks.. (but you'll have to sharpen more regularly if you use for boxes and heavier-duty things). I've not used this much, so I cannot confirm this.
The G10 handle has an excellent grippy feel and the flipper assists opening the blade with ease. The thumb studs suck (forget about them, but the flipper works better anyway). When open, the blade is rock-solid (no movement in any direction) and the liner lock is adequate. I love that the knife has a honest price, life-time warranty, and quality blade markings (made in USA by the way). The steel is made my Sandvick (Swedish, and they are known for medical instruments steel); and I'm not sure how it will hold up, but the packaging states a Rockwell hardness of 58-60, which if held true, this is better edge retention than AUS 8, and 8CrMov13 and 440. The knife is very comfortable in your hand and has excellent choil protection via the flipper when opened (folks with very large hands may find this handle to be small fo their mits, but still a good carrier). Lastly, this is a perfect mid-size every day carry knife. It's very, very light too (perfect for business folks, or ladies too). Complaints (if I have to) - this knife is a little plain-Jane and not real modern looking, but you won't look creepy opening this one in front of people; thumbstuds suck (again), and no jimping on top of the blade. 5 stars none the less - Great job on this knife. I will re-evaluate after some use. NOTE: in front of the finger jimping, you should oil your liner lock a bit, mine isn't seating completely at the base (I doubt the knife would come unlocked, but just in case).
Awesome EDC knife!
Light weight, solid feeling, and razor sharp out of the box. I love how easy and quick this knife can be opened. The blade locks open with zero play and the grip feels great in my hand. I use this knife everyday at work and it handles every task I've thrown at it. And the Skyline is MADE IN USA. As usual, Amazon got it to me quickly and for one of the lowest prices around. A great Every Day Carry knife.
A sleeper. Great quality for the price for right-handed use.
Wow. There are a lot of knife enthusiasts on Amazon.
Some excellent, in-depth reviews here.
I'll try to keep mine short, and to the point.
If you're used to a quality blade, you'll be happy with this one.
If you're used to $10 knives, you'll be amazed at the difference.
I needed this for a "work-horse" of an EDC, which will get some actual use, and abuse.
As such, I wanted to keep the price down, but the quality reasonably good.
Bingo. Found it.
EXCELLENT steel. Trim and light carry. Lawful but FAST one-handed deployment.
"Fit and Finish" is just outstanding for such a humble little utility tool.
Rub your hand along the back of the blade. The edges are totally smoothed and rounded.
Go around the whole exterior of the knife. Same thing. Every exposed edge is FINISHED in some way.
Rounded, smoothed, the edges of the scales are beveled, even the edges of the protruding "Flipper" mechanism,
and the steel edges of the pocket clip are rounded smooth and polished.
Note: This isn't my only Kershaw (yeah, I'm another "knife guy" I guess.) This is typical of their quality.
I guess you could say I'm a fan.
Say what you like about resin-based materials.. G10 scales are great for this application.
They are light, strong, and just feel REALLY good when you grab 'em hard, like you mean it.
The handle includes a wonderful detent for the index finger, that affords me a "full-sized" fist grip on the blade, very secure, which is a big suprise for a knife this size. May I call that a full-sized grip from a "medium" sized knife, if you know what I mean.
Moreover, the blade profile is great for me. Robust belly, hollow-grind, and carton-slitting drop-point.
The blade will be good for cutting and slicing, BAD for prying.
I'm also very fond of the bead-blast finish. The blade length is substantial enough to make this a good, solid tool, without generating gasps of fear and horror from by-standers.
This is a very suprising knife at this price.
Couple of suggestions:
You might want to reverse the clip for tip-up carry so the blade will deploy correctly.
Faster / more comfortable that way, but the knife will protrude a bit more with the clip reversed.
You might want to remove the pocket clip altogether (my choice) to maximize this knife's slim, sleek profile, and lighten it a bit more. Think about it. Do you really NEED / use a pocket clip? Up to you, but try it. You can always re-install it.
If you want to keep / use the clip, then do yourself a favor and take a dremmel and lightly sand off the texturing under and around the clip. The G10 texture is very aggressive and the clip is strong, together they will quickly errode any cloth you clip it too in no time. Denim included.
At this price, you really can not go wrong with this little guy.
Yes, there are a lot of really great folders out there.
Frankly, I can afford any knife I want. For this specific use, my choice is this humble Kershaw Skyline.
And an excellent choice it is.
